The Ministry of Education has set a goal to expand preschool education coverage to 80% of children by 2027, Education Minister Dogdurkul Kendirbayeva announced during a parliamentary meeting.
Currently, around 50% of children are enrolled in preschool programs.
“We are actively searching for funding and renovating unused buildings to create more kindergarten spaces,” Kendirbayeva said.
Member of Parliament Zamirbek Mamasadykov raised concerns about the Aigul kindergarten in Shamaldy-Say, which was renovated last year but has remained unused for a year due to a lack of furniture.
In response, the Minister explained, “We typically do not purchase furniture for kindergartens. This responsibility falls either on the construction company or local authorities. We handle the salaries for the staff.” She assured that the issue would be addressed.
