Pittsburg State University Honors College students organized a screen-free play day for children ages 5 to 7, offering a morning of fun and learning from 9:00 a.m. to noon today.
The event served as the final exam for a semester-long project focused on meeting community needs.
Students created hands-on activities that promoted teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, without the use of technology. Activities included building spaghetti towers, playing board games, and engaging in structured outdoor games.
“It’s a day for kids to connect and have fun without screens,” said Zoie Prothe, a Graphic Communication major and leader of the project.
The event was made possible through collaboration with the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center at Greenbush, Sunshine Childcare, Pitsco Education, and various campus departments.
