On Thursday, Permian High School held its annual special education prom for students with special needs.
Around 65 students attended the event, which took place at Faith Fellowship Church in Odessa. The evening included a special ride-along with vintage cars, provided by the West Texas Street Rod Association.
The prom offered these students a chance to dress up and enjoy a fun evening with friends, creating lasting memories.
“It’s an exciting night, just like any other prom,” said Amanda Speights, a teacher at Permian High School. “Students pick out their dresses, get their hair and makeup done, and the guys dress up too. It’s a special event for them since they don’t have many opportunities to do this regularly.”
This year, approximately 20 students from the special education program at Permian High School will be graduating.
