Four local high school seniors were honored with For Kids International (FKSI) scholarships during a recent ceremony at the Branch Café & Market in Carbondale. Family, friends and donors came together to celebrate the students’ achievements.
Each recipient received a $2,500 scholarship. The funds are intended to help students further their education in trade, technical or vocational courses. Two students plan to pursue a career in nursing. One student will study radiologic technology, and another is preparing for a future career in cosmetology.
The recipients are from Benton Union High School, Herring High School and Anna-Jonesboro High School.
FKSI said they are honored to expand their mission to support young people in Southern Illinois. The organization is currently accepting donations to help fund next year’s scholarships.
The students were recognized for their hard work and determination. One of the recipients, Saphyra, expressed her gratitude for the support.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the For Kids International scholarship I received,” she said. “This scholarship will greatly reduce the financial burden of my education and allow me to focus on my academic and personal development at John A. Logan College. I will be forever grateful for your support. It is an honor to be recognized for my efforts and your support is a strong motivation for my pursuit of academic excellence. Thank you again for your generosity and belief in my potential. I look forward to making the most of this opportunity to give back in the future, especially through the For Kids International Scholarship Program. I can’t wait to work with you again.”
The FKSI Scholarship Program highlights the importance of supporting students who choose a path other than the traditional four-year college. The organization hopes to continue to expand its impact in the region.
