A new educational initiative called “Let Me Fail” is helping children learn to face failure—and even grow from it. The free program also guides parents on why letting kids struggle can be beneficial.
Created by children’s author and mother Lowey Bundy, the project challenges the idea that failure is something to fear. Many children grow up avoiding mistakes, Bundy says, but her program encourages them to see setbacks as part of learning.
Alicia Wiechert, a teacher at Romona Elementary School in Wilmette, Illinois, has used the program with her students. She joined Bundy in speaking with CBS Chicago about the lessons, their goals, and how kids have responded.
Designed for grades three through eight, “Let Me Fail” includes activities where students practice coping with failure in a supportive environment. The goal? To build resilience and confidence—one mistake at a time.
