At its recent meeting, the Cumberland County Board of Education honored Billie Faye Brannon with the prestigious Kids First Award. The award recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact on students and the community.
Interim School Director Rebecca Farley praised Brannon’s dedication to the arts and her continued support of young artists.
“Ms. Billie Faye Brannon has been actively involved in the arts for many years. She has worked closely with the Senior Arts Awards and the People’s Choice Awards programs, providing her support and leadership throughout,” Farley said at the award ceremony.
Brannon is a long-time member of the Fairfield GLADE Art Association, where she has served in several important roles. She works directly with students who apply for the association’s art scholarships and helps mentor and encourage the next generation of artists.
In addition to her leadership role, Brannon is a skilled artist. She has created many art exhibitions throughout Cumberland County. Her passion for the arts extends beyond her personal work—she organizes arts field trips for the association and works with the Arts Roundup group in Cumberland County.
She is also committed to the development of arts education in the region. According to Farley, Brannon actively supports local art teachers and helps arrange professional development opportunities.
“Ms. Billie Fay is so deserving of this honor,” Farley said. “Congratulations!”
The Kids First Award recognizes individuals who put their lives and efforts into their students, and Brannon’s dedication to the arts and education embodies that mission.
