The Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures (BSBF) mobile van recently visited the Kitchen Ministry Center at Trinity United Methodist Church, bringing free dental care and education to local children.
Bianca Masson, a representative of the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program, explained the van’s mission. The team offers free dental exams and education to children aged 12 and under.
“We serve the entire state of Florida,” Masson said. “We have eight vans nationwide and travel between cities like Miami and West Palm Beach, just as we did today.”
At the event, each child received a dental checkup from a licensed oral health professional. They also received a gift bag containing a new toothbrush, toothpaste samples, brushing charts, and a list of local dental clinics for future visits, according to the Kitchen Ministry.
Masson reminded parents that the van’s service is not a substitute for regular dental visits. Instead, it is a fun and friendly way to encourage good oral health habits from an early age.
She emphasized the lasting impact of childhood oral care, stating, “Habits formed in childhood often continue throughout life.”
To ensure safety, the mobile van team follows strict cleaning protocols. The van is disinfected after each child’s visit, with a thorough deep cleaning at the end of the day. Volunteers and students are also required to wear masks while inside the van, according to a news release.
More than just dental supplies, the BSBF mobile van brings confidence and joy to the children it serves—giving them even more reasons to smile brightly.
