The University of Mary has officially opened a new childcare center in Bismarck, offering expanded services for families and young children across the region.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning, bringing together university officials, local families, and community partners. The new facility — named the Butler Center for Early Learning — is located across from Kirkwood Mall and emphasizes a faith-based approach to early childhood education.
The center underwent a $464,000 renovation, transforming the former Butler Center into a licensed childcare facility. It now serves children from infancy through age 12. The space includes dedicated rooms for infants and toddlers, classrooms for preschoolers, and a summer program for school-aged children.
“This focus on early childhood education has been part of the University of Mary’s mission from the beginning,” said Monsignor James Shea, president of the university. “We care deeply about it, we do it well, and honestly, we believe we do it better than anyone else.”
The Butler Center for Early Learning is set to begin full operations on Monday, June 2. Enrollment is still open for children ages 3 and older.
