As families across Central Florida get ready for a summer filled with camps and swimming lessons, Addition Financial Credit Union is lending a helping hand to ensure local children have a safe place to learn. On May 27, more than 20 Addition Financial employees volunteered at the Children’s Safety Village of Central Florida, working together to spruce up the campus before the busy summer season begins.
Volunteers from various Addition Financial branches and departments spent the day painting, landscaping, and organizing the nonprofit’s facilities. Their goal was to prepare the village for the hundreds of children expected to visit in the coming months. The Children’s Safety Village teaches important lessons on swim safety, fire prevention, pedestrian awareness, and other life-saving skills. It focuses on hands-on learning to help children stay safe in real-life situations.
The Children’s Safety Village is part of the Addition Financial Foundation’s 2024 Community Giving Class, which includes 10 nonprofits from across Central Florida.
“Education and community support are at the heart of what we do,” said Cristina Lehman, Executive Director of the Addition Financial Foundation. “Helping the Children’s Safety Village is a natural fit for our mission. We’re proud to support a place where kids can gain confidence and learn skills that could one day save their lives.”
In addition to providing grant funding, the Addition Financial Foundation supports each nonprofit in its Giving Class throughout the year. This includes volunteer opportunities and free workshops covering topics like media outreach, fundraising strategies, and grant writing.
