Hope on Screen: SAT-7 KIDS Brings Light to Children in Crisis

by Beatrice

Children in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) share many similarities with children around the world. They play, learn, and dream like any other child. But for many, daily life is shaped by conflict, poverty, and trauma.

Joe Willey, a spokesperson for SAT-7, a Christian satellite TV network that broadcasts in the MENA region, says children there often grow up in difficult environments.

“The region is made up of countries that face different levels of conflict and hardship,” Willey explains. “Millions of children are growing up in the shadow of war and unrest.”

To meet their needs, SAT-7 KIDS—a 24/7 Arabic-language children’s channel—produces programs that aim to heal hearts and minds. These shows are designed not only to educate but to bring spiritual hope.

“SAT-7 is providing comfort and hope,” Willey says. “It’s the hope of the Gospel—the message that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, not just a prophet, as many in the region are taught.”

The channel’s content includes shows that address trauma caused by war, as well as educational programs. These aim to break the cycle of poverty by equipping children with skills in reading, writing, and math.

The need is clear. In Sudan alone, nearly 19 million school-age children do not have access to formal education.

“That’s just one example,” Willey says. “There is a great need not just for basic education, but for education shaped by a Christian worldview.”

The programming doesn’t just help children. Adults also benefit—especially parents who may have missed out on education themselves. Many families sit down together to watch the programs and learn.

“This is content that reaches the whole family,” Willey says.

Though SAT-7 is a Christian network, its impact extends beyond the Christian community. Muslim families also tune in and respond positively.

“Even though it’s Christian content, many non-Christians watch our programs,” Willey says. “We are building trust, even in Muslim communities.”

Presenters do more than share Bible stories. They speak directly to the emotional pain children are feeling and help them understand that they are not alone.

The channel serves as a form of discipleship, encouraging children in their faith while also offering practical tools to grow and heal.

On the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, SAT-7 invites people around the world to pray.

Please pray for children across the Middle East and North Africa who are suffering from the effects of war, poverty, and trauma. Pray also for the success of SAT-7’s programs as they reach some of the world’s most vulnerable young hearts.

“Christ has a special love for children,” Willey says. “And as believers, we are called to care for them—especially the ones Scripture calls ‘the least of these.’”
