by Beatrice

Lagos families celebrated joy and education at the second edition of the Kids FM Festival, hosted by Nigeria’s first children’s radio station, Kids FM 101.7. Over 3,000 children and parents gathered at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island for a day of music, games, and bonding.

A Mission to Inspire

Tyeng Gang, the station’s General Manager (popularly known as Uncle Gang), said the event aimed to “inspire kids and empower parents” by blending education and entertainment.

The station’s programs—including Storytime Adventures, Little Geniuses, and Hero Hour—keep children engaged while boosting creativity.

Nigerian singer Korede Bello energized the crowd with live performances and gave cash gifts to young dancers. “Children are pure joy—full of happiness and energy,” he said.

Family Bonding and Activities

Attendees relaxed on picnic mats, enjoyed free noodles from Indomie, snacks from Champion Custard and Kellogg’s, and played games like hockey and PlayStation. Kids stayed active with bouncing castles, basketball nets, and learning corners.

Human rights advocate Mrs. Esther Oboli donated a celebration cake, while Mama Favour from Epe shared, “I danced my heart out with my kids.” Inspired by dance contests, Mrs. Oke Ruth vowed to enroll her children in dance classes next year.

The festival proved a hit, combining entertainment, education, and family fun—fulfilling Kids FM’s vision of nurturing young minds across Nigeria.
