Emirates has partnered with Roots Ethiopia and Brave Hearts Ethiopia to support local communities by providing a nurturing environment for disadvantaged youth to continue their education. Known for its long-standing commitment to youth empowerment, particularly in education, the airline is helping students from both organizations with essential school supplies. This initiative strengthens Emirates’ dedication to “connecting communities,” fostering meaningful relationships, and creating a lasting impact in the regions it serves.
Manoj Nair, Emirates’ Country Manager for Ethiopia, emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Education has the power to transform individuals and society as a whole. It equips the next generation with the tools they need to build a better future. We wanted to help students at Roots and Brave Hearts by providing them with the necessary resources for their educational journey, along with a unique piece of Emirates’ history in the form of upcycled backpacks. Since our first flight to Ethiopia in 2006, we’ve been committed to the country, expanding our operations, and supporting local communities.”
To ensure the organizations received the appropriate supplies for each student, Brave Hearts and Roots Ethiopia selected backpacks from the ‘Aircrafted KIDS by Emirates’ collection. The backpacks, made from materials upcycled from Emirates’ A380 and 777 aircraft, were handmade by the airline’s in-house Engineering team to accommodate children of all ages.
Konjit Yimer, Director of Brave Hearts Ethiopia, expressed deep appreciation for Emirates’ generosity. She said, “The donation of backpacks represents our shared commitment to empowering orphaned and vulnerable children through education. We are grateful to the entire Emirates team for their support and for helping us create a lasting impact on the lives of our children.”
