Morocco has launched a national program aimed at introducing children to digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The initiative was officially kicked off with the signing of a framework partnership agreement in Rabat on Saturday.
The program is part of Morocco’s “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which focuses on enhancing digital skills across the country. The main goal is to create a thriving digital ecosystem and equip children with the necessary knowledge to navigate future technologies.
This initiative aims to introduce young people to AI and digital tools at an early age, while also promoting responsible use of technology. It emphasizes the importance of ethics and best practices in the digital world.
One of the key objectives of the program is to bridge the technological gap and ensure equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their background.
The partnership brings together several key figures, including Minister of Digital Transition Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Youth Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget Fouzi Lekjaa, and Ibtissam Khamlichi from Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
Minister Seghrouchni highlighted that this program is a priority for Morocco’s digital future. The first phase will focus on children aged 8 to 14, with a second phase for those aged 15 to 18. It is estimated that around 200,000 children across Morocco will benefit from the initiative.
The program will begin in twelve youth centers across Morocco’s twelve regions, with special training for instructors to ensure the program can reach more children nationwide.
Morocco has been making significant strides in AI, focusing on research, innovation, and digital transformation. Introducing AI education to children is an important step in this journey.
Early exposure to AI will encourage curiosity, develop essential skills, and prepare a new generation to shape the future of technology. By reaching young people, Morocco is laying the foundation for a more inclusive and dynamic digital future.
