Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai has accused the ruling DMK of depriving poor children of quality education. Speaking at a public meeting in Tenkasi, Annamalai pointed out the disparity between the education provided to children in DMK constituencies and the common people.
He criticized SSankarankovil MLA E. Raja for sending his son to a school offering a three-language curriculum, a system that the BJP is advocating for across Tamil Nadu. Annamalai claimed the BJP’s signature campaign in support of the three-language policy has gained significant momentum, reaching 12 lakh signatures in just seven days. The party plans to submit these signatures to the President and will call for the introduction of this policy by the state government.
Annamalai also criticized the DMK for blocking the establishment of Navodaya schools in Tamil Nadu. These schools, introduced during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure, are designed to provide quality education to economically disadvantaged children. He argued that many government-run schools in the state are in poor condition, with children often forced to study outdoors under trees.
He further accused the DMK of neglecting crucial irrigation projects, particularly in drought-hit areas of Tenkasi district, which were initiated by former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj. Instead, he claimed the DMK government focused on promoting the sale of liquor through Tasmac outlets, while failing to provide necessary water for irrigation.
Annamalai concluded by accusing the DMK of not fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign, stating that it was up to the people to decide whether they wanted the “evil forces” of the DMK to continue ruling the state.
