Emirates Airlines has stepped up to support education in India by providing 400 specially designed backpacks filled with essential school supplies to underprivileged students. The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Smile Foundation, aims to help children access quality education and learning resources.
India has been actively reforming its education system, working to improve infrastructure and ensure equal opportunities for all children. Emirates’ contribution aligns with these efforts, focusing on students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The backpacks, part of the airline’s “Aircrafted KIDS” collection, are made from upcycled materials from Emirates’ aircraft and contain stationery, books, and hygiene products.

The Smile Foundation was chosen for its long-standing commitment to empowering underprivileged youth through education. The organization provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
Mohammad Sarhan, Emirates’ Vice President for India, emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental right. “In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4—ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education—we are committed to helping children, regardless of their circumstances, access the tools they need to build a better future,” he said.
Sarhan added, “Our partnership with Smile Foundation reflects Emirates’ dedication to connecting communities and making a meaningful impact. These upcycled bags not only support students’ daily learning needs but also promote sustainability by giving aircraft materials a second life.”
